What credits pay for, the $5 free credit, buying any amount from $1 to $800 and checking your balance.
- Can a team member buy credits for the team?No. Members see "Team credits" and can't add credits. Only the team owner can top up.FAQ
- Can credits top up automatically?No automatic top-up is offered. Watch the API credits card, low-credit Inbox messages and GET /v1/account, and top up by hand.FAQ
- Can I buy credits for someone else's account?Credits are linked to the Account ID in the checkout link. Buy from your own Console, or invite the person to your team.FAQ
- Can I buy credits in cents, like $7.50?No. Purchases are whole dollar amounts from $1 to $800. The form only accepts whole numbers.FAQ
- Can I exchange credits for cash?No. Credits have no cash value and can't be exchanged for cash. Unused purchased credits may be refundable within 14 days.Policy
- Can I move credits to another account?No. Credits belong to one Account ID and can't be transferred. Teams let others use your credits instead.FAQ
- Can my credit balance go below zero?Normally metered calls stop at zero with 402. A reversed payment or chargeback can be deducted from your balance.FAQ
- Do credits expire?The Console and docs state that credits don't expire. Promotional credits follow the terms stated when they're granted.FAQ
- Do I lose my credits if I change or cancel my plan?No. Credits are separate from your plan and stay on your account whatever plan you're on.FAQ
- Do I need credits just to try the Playground?Yes, the Playground uses credits, but new accounts have $5 of free credit, which covers many test chats.FAQ

- Is it worth buying just $1 of credits?Yes, $1 is the minimum and buys plenty of short API calls; for example about 300 short Flash chats at 1,000 in / 500 out.FAQ

- What do the statuses in Credit purchases mean?credited means added; refunded means removed again; "Above $800, being refunded" was over the limit; others are in progress.Reference
- What happened to the $10, $25, $50 and $100 credit packs?Fixed packs were replaced on Oct 31, 2026 by any whole amount from $1 to $800. Credits from packs work the same.FAQ
- What happens if I pay more than $800 for credits in one purchase?A purchase above $800 isn't credited. It shows "Above $800, being refunded" and is refunded.FAQ
- What if I need credits and checkout isn't working?Your existing credits keep working. Try again later, check the status page's Payments group, and contact support if urgent.FAQ
- What is the "Model API trial" in my billing?Some older accounts got a one-time $5 Model API trial. What's left is used before your credits. New accounts get $5 free credit instead.FAQ
- What is the $5 free credit?Every new account gets $5 of credit once, for the Model API and Agent API. It replaced the old $20 grant and $5 Model API trial.FAQ
