Troubleshooting
Fixing errors and odd behaviour in uploads, links, preview and the API.
- Code Buckets says 404 not_found but I know the id exists. Why?The id isn't on the account in X-Clatter-Account, it was deleted, or you used the wrong kind of id for the endpoint.Troubleshooting
- I can't see buckets I created. Am I on the wrong account?Buckets belong to one account. Check which account you're signed in to in the Console and which Account ID your key uses.Troubleshooting
- I get 401 errors from the Code Buckets API. How do I fix them?invalid_api_key, expired_api_key, missing_account_id or account_mismatch: check the key, its status and the X-Clatter-Account header.Troubleshooting
- I get network errors calling api.codebuckets.clatterlabs.xyz. What can I check?Check your network or proxy allows the host, that you call it from a server, and that GET / answers. Then check the status page.Troubleshooting
- I keep getting 400 checksum_mismatch. What's wrong? The chunk's bytes don't match the X-Content-SHA256 you sent. Hash exactly the chunk bytes in hex, then resend.Troubleshooting
- I restored a backup but some newer files are still there. Why?By default a restore keeps files added after the backup. Restore again with {"objects": "exact"} to hide them.Troubleshooting
- I uploaded files to the wrong bucket. How do I fix it?Upload them again to the right bucket, then delete the objects from the wrong one. There's no move between buckets.Troubleshooting
- I uploaded my code but the Files tab is empty. Why?The file was stored as an asset, preview is off, the zip is still processing, or its preview failed. Here's how to tell.Troubleshooting
- My big monorepo zip only partly appears in the preview. What can I do?Preview takes about 96 MB of files and 20,000 files per zip. Split the repo into smaller zips with target_path, or across buckets.Troubleshooting
- My files.cdn-buckets link shows an old version for a minute. Why?Files on that host are cached for up to 60 seconds. Each upload is a new object with a new link, so use the new public_url.Troubleshooting
- My image's public link is on files.cdn-buckets, not img.cdn. Why?It wasn't recognised as an image: its content_type isn't image/* and its extension isn't an image one. Re-upload with an image content_type.Troubleshooting
- My key works on my laptop but gets 401 from a hosted environment. Why?Something in that environment may be rewriting the Authorization header, such as a proxy that injects its own credentials.Troubleshooting
- My public file downloads instead of opening, or shows as text. Why?Its Content-Type is wrong. It comes from content_type at upload, or the extension. Re-upload with the right content_type.Troubleshooting
- My upload is stuck on "uploading". How do I finish it?Check received_chunks, send the missing chunks and call complete. Uploads stay uploading until they're completed or aborted.Troubleshooting
- My uploads are slow. How can I speed them up?Upload 3–4 chunks in parallel, retry single failed chunks, avoid restarting, and shrink zips by leaving out dependencies and build output.Troubleshooting
- My zip has been "processing" for a long time. What's happening?Building the code tree usually takes seconds, longer for very large zips. Check preview.status and the events feed; the zip itself is stored.Troubleshooting
- The tree response says truncated: true. What does that mean?Very large trees (over 100,000 entries) are truncated in the listing. Read specific files by path, or split code across buckets.Troubleshooting
- What do 503 unavailable and storage_unavailable mean? The service or its storage is briefly unavailable. Retry in a moment with backoff and check the status page if it continues.Troubleshooting
- What do all the Code Buckets error codes mean?Every Code Buckets error code with its status and what to do, in one table.Reference
- What should I do about 502 storage_error?Storage had a temporary problem with that operation. Retry it; chunk operations are safe to repeat.Troubleshooting
- What should I include when contacting support about Code Buckets?Your Account ID, the project, bucket or object ids, the X-Request-Id, the time, the endpoint and the error code. Never your key.How-to
