My Model API bill is higher than I expected. Why?

Look at Console › Logs (each call with its price) and check for:

• Growing conversation history, re-sent as input every turn.
• Reasoning tokens on Max and Heavy, billed as output.
• Prompts over 262K tokens, which bill their whole input at 1.5×.
• Retries or loops sending the same request many times.
• A leaked key being used by someone else: if calls don't look like yours, revoke the key.
• Heavy as default where Flash would do.

Good to know#

• New accounts get $5 of free credit; top up from $1 to $800 per purchase in Console › Billing › Credits. Billing
• Retry only 429 and 5xx errors, with backoff; honour Retry-After when it's sent. Which errors to retry
• Model ids: supercosmos-flash, supercosmos-max, supercosmos-heavy (SuperCosmos 1.1). Which to call
