Why did I use more tokens than I expected?

TroubleshootingUpdated

Common reasons:

  • Rounding: data tokens round up per request, so many tiny chunk requests add up.
  • Public links: every view counts (1 per request plus 1 per MiB).
  • Console transfers: browsing is free, but uploads and downloads count 1 per MiB.
  • Polling: each request is 1 token.
  • Repeated downloads of the same large files.

Check storage.public_files and tokens.used in GET /v1/usage, and the X-Codebuckets-Tokens header on your requests.
