How do I give each of my users a spending budget?

The Model API bills your account, so per-user budgets live in your app:

1. After each call, compute cost from usage and the model's prices (and 1.5× input above 262K tokens).
2. Add it to the user's running total for the period.
3. Warn near the limit; stop or switch them to Flash at it.
4. Reconcile monthly against Console › Usage.

For your own team members (not customers), Console › Team has built-in daily quotas and monthly limits.

Good to know#

• Retry only 429 and 5xx errors, with backoff; honour Retry-After when it's sent. Which errors to retry
• Each key has its own limit: 10, 30 (default), 60 or 120 requests per minute. Rate limits
• If calls fail unexpectedly, check status.clatterlabs.com before debugging further.
