Line CLI says "Compact failed"
"Compact failed: …" means the call that writes the summary didn't finish, usually because of a dropped connection, a busy model or a reached limit. Nothing was lost: the conversation stays as it was.
- Try
/compactagain in a moment. - Check
/usageif you might be at a plan limit. - If the session is huge and compaction keeps failing, start fresh with
/newand restate the task; the old session stays saved.
