What is auto-compact in Line CLI?

ExplainerUpdated

Long tasks can fill the model's context window. When it reaches about 80%, Line compacts automatically:

  1. It clears old tool output first (in one batch).
  2. If that isn't enough, it summarizes earlier steps.
  3. After a summary, it re-attaches your plan (to-do list) and the most recently used files.

A guard stops auto-compaction from repeating when it isn't helping. You can compact yourself any time with /compact.
