I lost my API key. Can I get it back?
No. Because Clatter Labs stores only a hash of each key, nobody, including support, can show it to you again.
What to do#
- Go to API keys › Create API key and create a replacement with the same permissions and rate limit.
- Copy it and put it wherever the old one was used.
- Find the old key in the list (by its name and hint) and select Revoke, so the lost copy can never be used.
Avoid it next time#
- Save keys in a password manager or secret store the moment you create them.
- Give keys clear names so you know which one to replace.
Good to know#
- Keys can expire after 30 days, 90 days (default), 1 year, or never.
- Every API request sends your key and your Account ID (
X-Clatter-Account: CL-…); a key alone is refused.
