Why is my API key shown only once?
For your safety, Clatter Labs never stores your full key. It keeps only a keyed hash, a scrambled version that can check a key but can't be turned back into it. That's why the Console can show the secret only at the moment you create it.
In the "Key created" dialog#
- The secret is labelled Shown only once.
- Select Copy and store it somewhere safe right away (a password manager or your server's secret settings).
- If you try to close the dialog without copying, the Console warns: "You haven't copied the key. Once you close this, it can't be shown again." You can Copy key or Close anyway.
Afterwards#
The keys list shows only a short hint of each key (so you can tell them apart), never the whole secret.
