Why do Clatter Labs keys start with clsk_?

FAQUpdated

Every Console key starts with clsk_. The prefix makes keys easy to recognise, both for you ("this is a Clatter Labs secret") and for tools that scan code and logs for leaked secrets. If you see clsk_ in a file, commit, ticket or chat, treat it as a secret and revoke it if it was exposed.

The Account ID (CL-…) is not a secret in the same way, but keep the pair apart where you can.

Good to know#

  • Each key has its own rate limit: 10, 30 (default), 60 or 120 requests per minute.
  • Keys can expire after 30 days, 90 days (default), 1 year, or never.
  • Every API request sends your key and your Account ID (X-Clatter-Account: CL-…); a key alone is refused.
