What is an API key?

ExplainerUpdated

An API key is a long secret that starts with clsk_. Your code sends it with every request so Clatter Labs knows the request is allowed to use your account.

Authorization: Bearer clsk_...
X-Clatter-Account: CL-XXXXXXXX

What one key can do#

That depends on the permissions you give it when you create it:

  • Agent API — start, read and cancel Cosmos Agent runs.
  • Model API — call SuperCosmos models.
  • Code Buckets — read and write your buckets and backups.
  • Account — read your balance and usage.

Each key also has its own rate limit and an optional expiry date.

Who pays#

Usage made with a key is charged to the account that owns it, including usage by anyone you give it to.

Keep it safe#

Treat a key like a password. It's shown only once, and Clatter Labs keeps only a scrambled (hashed) copy, so it can't be shown again later.
