How do I send my Account ID when using an OpenAI SDK with the Model API?

How-toUpdated

The Model API speaks the OpenAI format, so you can use an OpenAI SDK. Set the base URL and add your Account ID as a default header.

from openai import OpenAI
import os

client = OpenAI(
    base_url="https://api.gateway.clatterlabs.xyz/v1",
    api_key=os.environ["CLATTER_API_KEY"],
    default_headers={"X-Clatter-Account": os.environ["CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID"]},
)
import OpenAI from "openai";
const client = new OpenAI({
  baseURL: "https://api.gateway.clatterlabs.xyz/v1",
  apiKey: process.env.CLATTER_API_KEY,
  defaultHeaders: { "X-Clatter-Account": process.env.CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID },
});

The key needs the models:invoke permission (the Model API preset). The Console's Models page and Playground "View code" show ready-made versions of this.

If a tool only lets you set a base URL and key, with no custom headers, it can't send the Account ID yet, and requests will answer 401 missing_account_id.
