Tiers: auto, Flash, Max and Heavy
Choosing a SuperCosmos tier for each run and how tiers are billed.
- Can Cosmos look at screenshots or images?SuperCosmos reads text only and doesn't take image input, so runs can't receive images from you.FAQ
- Can I change a run's tier after it has started? No. The tier is set when the run is created. Cancel it and start a new run with the tier you want.FAQ
- Can I use Line Code in the Agent API?No. Agent API runs use SuperCosmos tiers only, and Line Code was retired on Nov 1, 2026.FAQ
- Does a higher tier make runs slower?Usually yes per step: Max and Heavy think before acting. But they may need fewer steps on hard tasks, so total time can vary.FAQ
- Does Heavy have a bigger context window than Flash? No. All tiers are SuperCosmos 1.1 with the same 1M-token window; they differ in how much they think per step.FAQ
- How do I compare tiers on the same task?Run the same input on two tiers, then compare output quality, steps and token usage before choosing a default.How-to
- How is each tier billed on the Agent API?Tokens are billed at the tier each call actually ran on. auto runs bill as Flash. Computer time and other items cost the same on every tier.Reference
- How much can Cosmos keep in mind during a run?SuperCosmos 1.1 has a 1M-token context window on every tier. Prompts above 262K tokens bill input at 1.5×.FAQ
- I get 400 bad_request when setting tier. What's wrong?tier must be exactly auto, flash, max or heavy, in lowercase. Model ids like supercosmos-max belong to the Model API.Troubleshooting
- Should I just use heavy for every run to get the best results?Usually not. Heavy is slower and costs more. The docs recommend auto or flash for most runs and heavy only for the hard ones.FAQ
- What are the Agent API tiers auto, flash, max and heavy?Tiers choose how much SuperCosmos thinks on each step. auto lets Cosmos route; flash is fastest; max plans; heavy thinks longest.Explainer
- Which SuperCosmos version do my runs use?SuperCosmos 1.1 is the current model behind Clatter Labs products, including the Agent API, at the same prices as 1.0.FAQ
- Which tier should I pick for my run?Start with auto or flash. Move a type of run to max or heavy only when you see it struggle.How-to
- Why does my finished run still say tier: auto? The run's tier field shows the tier you asked for, not each step's routed tier. auto runs are billed as Flash.FAQ
