What are the Agent API tiers auto, flash, max and heavy?
Set tier when you create a run:
tier | Behaviour | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
auto (default) | Cosmos routes each step | Most runs |
flash | Fastest; answers without extended thinking | Small edits, scripts, lookups, high volume |
max | Thinks before acting | Building features, debugging, multi-file changes |
heavy | Thinks longest, longest answers | Hard bugs, large builds, deep reasoning |
In plain words: Flash answers straight away, Max stops to plan first, and Heavy thinks the longest. Not sure? Leave it on auto.
All tiers are the same model, SuperCosmos 1.1, with the same 1M-token context window. They differ in how much effort goes into each step.
