What does 410 model_retired mean?
You called a Line Code id. Line Code was retired on Nov 1, 2026, and its ids answer 410. They are never billed and never routed to another model.
Code: model_retired · HTTP status: 410
The body includes "replacement": "supercosmos" and "retired_at": "2026-11-01".
Common causes#
line-code,line-code-fast,line-code-ultraorline-code-ultra-fastin your code
How to fix it#
- Use
supercosmos-flashinstead ofline-code-fast. - Use
supercosmos-maxinstead ofline-code-ultra. - Use
supercosmos-heavyinstead ofline-code-ultra-fast.
Should my code retry?#
Never retry: the ids won't come back.
The error body uses the OpenAI shape, so OpenAI SDKs raise it as an exception you can catch:
{"error": {"message": "...", "type": "...", "code": "model_retired", "param": null}}
Every response also carries an X-Request-Id. Keep it in your logs; it's the quickest way for support to find a request.
The full 410 response#

"error": {
"message": "Line Code was retired on Nov 1, 2026. Use SuperCosmos instead: supercosmos-flash, supercosmos-max or supercosmos-heavy (in Line CLI: /model supercosmos). See https://www.clatterlabs.com/blog/retiring-line-code-and-what-comes-next",
"type": "invalid_request_error",
"code": "model_retired",
"param": "model",
"replacement": "supercosmos",
"retired_at": "2026-11-01"
}
}
The family id line-code answers the same way, and GET /v1/models/line-code-fast (or any Line Code id) answers 410 too. Read why in Why was Line Code retired?.
