Why does Line CLI run my tests before it finishes?

ExplainerUpdated

Since 0.8.0-beta, Line verifies its work. When the agent changed files and is about to finish, Line runs your project's own check:

  1. verify_command from .line/settings.json, if set.
  2. Otherwise the tests (npm test, cargo test, go test, pytest).
  3. Otherwise the type checker.

In auto mode or with --yes, Line runs it itself; a failure goes back to the agent with the output (up to 2 rounds). In ask mode, the agent is asked to verify.

Change it#

"verify": "auto", "nudge" or "off" in settings, or --verify for one run.
