Why does Line CLI always ask before touching my .env file?

FAQUpdated

Files that usually hold secrets always ask, even in auto mode: .env files, SSH keys and config, cloud credentials and private keys. This protects you from an agent reading or changing secrets by accident.

Also#

  • @ mentions skip secret files.
  • If Line does read output that contains keys or tokens, it replaces them with [REDACTED:kind] before they reach the model.

If Line truly needs a value, consider giving it a safe example file (like .env.example) instead of the real secrets.
