My app lets other people use the API through my key. What am I responsible for?

ExplainerUpdated

When your app sends your users' requests to the Model API or the Agent API with your key, Clatter Labs treats them as your requests.

  • Billing. All usage is charged to your credits.
  • Abuse policy. If one of your users insults or curses at the assistant, it counts as a strike against your account: first a warning, then a 24-hour suspension of your whole account on every Clatter Labs product.
  • Terms. You're responsible for usage by your end users and by anyone who gets a key you exposed. You also can't resell access as a standalone service without an agreement with Clatter Labs.

Protect yourself#

  • Filter or moderate user input before sending it.
  • Watch for the x-clatter-notice: abuse_warning response header and block the user who triggered it.
  • Set your own per-user limits on your server.
  • Keep the key on your server only.

See the Abuse policy.
