What's the difference between Flash, Max and Heavy?
All three are SuperCosmos 1.1 with the same weights (550B, 55B active) and the same 1M-token window. They differ in how much work goes into each step.
| Flash | Max | Heavy | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Also called | Fast | Strong | Deliberate |
| Model id | supercosmos-flash | supercosmos-max | supercosmos-heavy |
| Speed | Fastest | Balanced | Slowest |
| Extended thinking | Off | On | On, longest |
| Input / 1M | $1.60 | $1.80 | $2.00 |
| Output / 1M | $3.40 | $3.80 | $4.40 |
| Good for | Quick edits, answers, everyday agent steps | Planning, debugging, multi-file changes | Hard bugs, long builds, deep reasoning |
Rule of thumb: pick the lowest tier that does the job, and move up when a task keeps failing its own checks or needs a plan across many files. See the SuperCosmos 1.1 overview.
