How do I choose an effort with cURL?

How-toUpdated

Either name the effort in the model id or send the family id with effort.

curl https://api.gateway.clatterlabs.xyz/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CLATTER_API_KEY" \
  -H "X-Clatter-Account: $CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "supercosmos",
    "effort": "heavy",
    "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Find the bug: for i in range(1, len(a)): total += a[i]"}]
  }'

"reasoning_effort": "high" does the same as "effort": "heavy". No effort means Flash.

Set CLATTER_API_KEY (a clsk_ key with models:invoke) and CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID (your CL- Account ID from Console › Settings) first. Reference: Model API reference.

Good to know#

  • Keep keys on your server, never in a browser or mobile app. Why
  • If calls fail unexpectedly, check status.clatterlabs.com before debugging further.
  • Each key has its own limit: 10, 30 (default), 60 or 120 requests per minute. Rate limits
