Why does the Model API need both a key and X-Clatter-Account?
A key alone isn't enough: every request must also name the account that owns the key in X-Clatter-Account.
- A key that leaks without its Account ID can't be used.
- A key sent with someone else's Account ID is refused with
401 account_mismatch. - No header at all answers
401 missing_account_id.
It's a small extra step that protects you if a key ends up in a log or a paste. Your Account ID isn't a secret in the same way as the key, but there's no reason to publish it either.
With the OpenAI SDKs, set it once as a default header. See Set up the Python SDK.
