What are sub-agents in Line CLI?
A sub-agent is a separate agent that Line starts on your machine with its own fresh context, to work on part of a task and report back. Several run in parallel.
Kinds#
- explore (default): read-only search and explanation.
- research: read-only plus the web.
- review: read-only critique of a change.
- general: full tools; edits files and runs commands under your current approval mode.
- custom: your own kinds defined in
.line/agents/(see Custom sub-agents).
Safe in parallel#
Line locks files per agent, makes each agent read a file before editing it, and refuses an edit when the file changed since that agent read it. Every change is attributed to the agent that made it.
The Agents panel shows them live; /agents lists runs.
