How do I add an MCP server to Line CLI?

How-toUpdated

Add it under mcpServers in:

  • ~/.line/mcp.json (yours, every project), or
  • .mcp.json or .line/mcp.json in the project (shared with the repo).
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "github": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-github"],
      "env": { "GITHUB_TOKEN": "${GITHUB_TOKEN}" }
    },
    "docs": {
      "url": "https://example.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${DOCS_TOKEN}" }
    }
  }
}

Then type /mcp reload. /mcp shows each server's status and tools; line mcp lists them from the shell. Tools appear to the agent as mcp__<server>__<tool>.

Project servers start only after you trust them: /mcp trust <name> or line mcp trust <name>.
