Is it safe to paste my API key into an AI chat or coding assistant?
No. Anything you paste into a chat, an AI prompt, a ticket or a forum may be stored or seen by others. That includes Clatter Labs' own Playground and Line CLI.
Instead, keep the key in an environment variable (CLATTER_API_KEY) and let your code read it. If you already pasted a key somewhere, revoke it in the Console and create a new one.
Good to know#
- Never put a key in front-end code, a mobile app, a public repo or a screenshot.
- Give each integration its own key with only the permissions it needs.
- Every API request sends your key and your Account ID (
X-Clatter-Account: CL-…); a key alone is refused.
