What if I ask SuperCosmos what today's date is?

The model doesn't have a clock. Unless the product passes the date in (some do) or a tool provides it, it can't know today's date reliably, and it's built to say so rather than guess. If dates matter (deadlines, "next Friday"), include today's date in your prompt.
