What if my document is bigger than the 1M-token window?

It can't all go in one request: the window is 1M tokens, and on the Model API a request is also limited to 3 MB. Options:

• Send only the relevant parts (often the best answer anyway).
• Split and summarise: summarise each part, then ask your question over the summaries.
• Search first: use your own search or a tool to pick the sections that matter.

Remember prompts over 262K tokens bill their whole input at 1.5×, so smaller is also cheaper.
