What errors can happen during a stream?

ReferenceUpdated

Before streaming starts (bad key, no credits, rate limit), you get a normal error response with its HTTP status, exactly like a non-streamed request.

After streaming starts, the status is already 200, so an error arrives as an event:

data: {"error": {"message": "...", "code": "stream_error", ...}}
data: [DONE]

Retryable codes there are typically stream_error, model_overloaded, model_unavailable and model_timeout. See How do I detect an error in the middle of a stream?.

  • If calls fail unexpectedly, check status.clatterlabs.com before debugging further.
  • Your key's account is responsible for your end users' text under the Abuse policy. What it means for apps
  • Keep keys on your server, never in a browser or mobile app. Why
