What is the family id supercosmos and the effort parameter?

ExplainerUpdated

Instead of naming the effort in the model id, you can send the family id and choose the effort separately:

{ "model": "supercosmos", "effort": "max", "messages": [...] }
  • effort: flash, max or heavy.
  • Or reasoning_effort: low → Flash, medium → Max, high → Heavy. Handy if your code already sets OpenAI's reasoning_effort.
  • No effort: Flash (default_effort in GET /v1/models).
  • Unknown value: 400 invalid_effort.

Billing is at the effort that ran. Using a specific id like supercosmos-max is equivalent and simpler to read in logs.

Good to know#

  • Every response has an X-Request-Id; log it so a request can be found later. Why log it
  • New accounts get $5 of free credit; top up from $1 to $800 per purchase in Console › Billing › Credits. Billing
  • Each key has its own limit: 10, 30 (default), 60 or 120 requests per minute. Rate limits
