What is an SDK, and which one should I use?

ExplainerUpdated

An SDK (software development kit) is a library that wraps an API so you call functions instead of writing raw HTTP requests.

The Model API speaks the OpenAI Chat Completions format, so use the official OpenAI SDK:

  • Python: pip install openai
  • JavaScript / TypeScript: npm install openai

Set the base URL, your key and the X-Clatter-Account header, and use a SuperCosmos model id. Clatter Labs doesn't need its own SDK for the Model API.

Good to know#

  • Base URL: https://api.gateway.clatterlabs.xyz/v1, with Authorization: Bearer clsk_... and X-Clatter-Account: CL-... on every call. Quick reference
  • Retry only 429 and 5xx errors, with backoff; honour Retry-After when it's sent. Which errors to retry
  • Every call shows in Console › Logs and Usage as Model API, with its price. See what you spent
