How do I set environment variables for my key on Windows, macOS or Linux?

How-toUpdated

macOS / Linux (bash, zsh):

export CLATTER_API_KEY="clsk_..."
export CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID="CL-XXXXXXXX"

Add the lines to ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc to keep them across sessions.

Windows PowerShell (current session):

$env:CLATTER_API_KEY = "clsk_..."
$env:CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID = "CL-XXXXXXXX"

Windows (permanent, for your user):

setx CLATTER_API_KEY "clsk_..."
setx CLATTER_ACCOUNT_ID "CL-XXXXXXXX"

(open a new terminal afterwards). In production, use your platform's secret manager instead.

Good to know#

  • Model ids: supercosmos-flash, supercosmos-max, supercosmos-heavy (SuperCosmos 1.1). Which to call
  • Every call shows in Console › Logs and Usage as Model API, with its price. See what you spent
  • If calls fail unexpectedly, check status.clatterlabs.com before debugging further.
