Which shell profile does the Line installer change?
The installer looks at your login shell ($SHELL) and adds one PATH line, marked with a # Line CLI comment:
| Shell | File changed |
|---|---|
| zsh | ~/.zshrc |
| bash on macOS | ~/.bash_profile and ~/.bashrc |
| bash on Linux | ~/.bashrc |
| fish | ~/.config/fish/conf.d/line.fish |
| anything else | ~/.profile |
It doesn't add the line twice: if the # Line CLI marker is already there, it skips that file. If it can't write a file, it prints the line for you to add by hand.
To stop the installer changing any profile, run it with LINE_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1.
