Are failed API requests shown or charged in Logs?

FAQUpdated

Logs lists metered requests, meaning ones that used tokens, computer time, actions or data.

  • Refused requests — 401, 402 out_of_credits, 403, 429 rate or plan limits — are stopped before any work, so they're not metered or charged.
  • Retired model ids (410 model_retired) are never billed.
  • Agent API runs that fail partway are billed for the steps they already did. A run that ran out of credits stops with out_of_credits.
  • Model API bills the usage reported for a call. A stream that breaks midway sends an error, and only what was reported is billed.

Your own app logs should record error codes; Logs shows what was actually used.

  • Paid by tells you whether your plan, your credits, a trial or the team paid.
  • Use Load older to page back; filters narrow by product and member.
