When is a file stored as an archive and when as an asset?

FAQUpdated
  • Names ending in .zip default to kind: "archive": stored encrypted and unpacked into the code tree (when preview is on).
  • Everything else is an asset: stored encrypted and downloadable as is.

To store a zip without unpacking it (for example a release download or a dataset), set "kind": "asset" when you start the upload.
