Why should I set content_type when uploading?

FAQUpdated

content_type is the MIME type returned when the file is downloaded or opened from a public link.

  • An image/* type makes a public file an image, served on img.cdn.clatterlabs.xyz.
  • If content_type is empty or application/octet-stream, the file extension decides instead (.png, .jpg, .svg, …).
  • A wrong type can make browsers download a file instead of showing it.

Set it at upload time; e.g. text/html, application/pdf, video/mp4, image/webp.
