Line CLI says "--print needs a prompt"
line -p answers one prompt and exits, so it needs one:
line -p "explain this repo"
To continue the last session in print mode: line -c -p "continue". Quote the prompt so your shell passes it as one piece, especially if it contains spaces or special characters.
