What does the Encryption section of a bucket's settings mean?

FAQUpdated

Every zip and asset is split into 16 MB parts and each part is encrypted with this bucket's own data key, kept only wrapped by a Clatter Labs master key that never leaves our servers.

You don't need to manage keys yourself. With Code preview on, the unpacked code you browse is stored privately but not with the per-bucket key; turn preview off for "Archive only".

Good to know#

  • Each bucket holds up to 10 GB; total storage depends on your plan (1 GB to 1 TB).
  • Browsing is free; uploads and downloads count 1 Code Buckets token per MiB.
  • Every API request sends your key and your Account ID (X-Clatter-Account: CL-…); a key alone is refused.
